Kamau’s campaign is built on three community-driven pillars:

Promote community gardens in every district
Support educational farming programs for youth
Increase access to fresh, affordable produce in underserved areas

🏀 Youth Recreation & Crime Prevention
Invest in safe, local recreation centers and after-school programs
Organize city-wide youth sports and mentorship events
Reduce crime by creating structured opportunities for leadership and growth

🏪 Support for Small & Historic Businesses
Provide grants and funding resources to small business owners
Preserve and promote Birmingham’s historic Black-owned shops and spaces
Create city-backed partnerships and pop-up programs to grow local entrepreneurship

9) Formed Smithfield Historic District, $3 million Enterprise Zone and 5 Points Merchants Association 1983.

10) Led acquisition and renovation by the Black Contractors of the Bruno Smithfield Building Center 1983.

11) Filed Amicus Brief to force the indictment of 16th Street Baptist Church Bomber Bobby Frank Cherry 2002.

12) Partnered w/ “Lit On Eight” to provide “The Yard” to raise $8k for The Boys Club w/ Dir Frank Adams in 2023.

13) Led the battle to get the BSC Campus for Alabama A&M to stabilize property values in Bush & College Hills.

14) Appointed Field Chief by Larry Langford for a successful GOTV campaign that helped pass the 1% sales tax to construct new schools in Birmingham and Jefferson County.

15) Stood armed in protest at the Jefferson County Courthouse to oppose Mayor William Bell’s attempt to sell Birmingham’s public water. Warned the community it would lead to double billing and cover up political corruption—defending public resources and the people’s right to clean, affordable water.

16) Led a solo protest alongside his teenage daughter against BellSouth/AT&T’s refusal to recognize the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, standing for civil rights and corporate accountability.
